Dr. Wysocki is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) who specializes in working with adults across the lifespan. While engaged in the practice of psychotherapy for 14 years, he has been studying and working in the field for 20 years. Will is well-versed in treating depression, low self-esteem (although he disputes the construct of “self-esteem” and prefers addressing these difficulties with tools offered by self-compassion as informed by the research of Dr. Kristin Neff), anxiety, OCD, difficulties with personality functioning, developmental trauma and those with histories of childhood neglect, and ADHD. He is a practical integrationist who likes to use what works in the field and acknowledges that a “one-size-fits-all” approach simply doesn’t yield positive outcomes in the provision of quality care. While Behaviorism is important, he understands that biological, affective, somatic, and cultural facets of being human are equally as important as our thoughts and behaviors. He is thoroughly invested in integrative care and prides himself in the coordination of care with medical providers seeking to treat the whole person.
While an existential-humanist at heart, Will is trained in relational, psychodynamic, and attachment-oriented approaches, while borrowing from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to meet clients’ needs with symptom reduction. Will holds a certificate in Trauma Model Therapy from The Colin A. Ross Institute for Psychological Trauma and challenges the problems associated with diagnosing comorbidities (multiple diagnoses) without the consideration of trauma. He views psychopathology (and adaptation) through the descriptive lens of Attachment, while utilizing the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, pragmatically, for accurate diagnosis. He has studied how Secure Attachment is natural and that we can earn Secure Attachment even if we didn’t grow up with a “Secure Base.”
In 2024, Will completed a prerequisite course, Attachment, Neurodevelopment & Psychopathology, through the Family Relations Institute to prepare for studying the Dynamic-Maturational Model (DMM) of Attachment and Adaptation explicated by Dr. Patricia Crittenden. He continues to officially study the DMM with hopes to eventually get certified in the assessment of adult attachment. Dr. Wysocki is currently matriculated in a didactic and experiential certificate training program established by Dr. Diane Poole Heller for developing as a Dynamic Attachment Repatterning experience (DARe) provider. In 2025, Will is excited to pursue Somatic Experience training grounded in the theory and approach founded by Peter Levine, Ph.D., through Somatic Experiencing International.
