Take the First Step: Evaluation & Assessment
The first step to take when exploring a substance use issue is to participate in a comprehensive evaluation with a licensed professional to determine the scope of the problem, the severity of the problem, and what the problem(s) truly are. The results of the evaluation are then used to align ourselves with the patient to develop an individualized treatment plan identifying strengths and setting measurable short and long term goals for change.
Pine Lake Behavioral Health’s substance use programs provide personalized treatment times convenient to your schedule with minimal interruptions to your life. We understand you have a life outside of treatment and we also know how important the commitments you have are key elements of working a successful program.
Our progressive recovery programs are based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapies with an emphasis on Solution Focused approaches. We follow a CHANGE model that is future focused, goal oriented, and a true process not an event. We don’t set unrealistic goals or have unrealistic expectations. Instead, we understand treatment and therapy to be a growth opportunity and not a cure so we define success differently for each patient. Services are designed to help patients (and their families) gain a thorough understanding about the severities of substance use, thought patterns and behaviors that often accompany these issues, and what life in the future looks like within the context of your morals and values. Pine Lake Behavioral Health remains focused on creating attitudinal, functional and behavioral change so that a healthier more productive lifestyle can be achieved.
Our goal is to help the individual break the cycle of self-destruction, remove the dark cloud, and to rebuild self-worth as well as repair relationships with loved ones. We want to empower the individual, knowing that hope fuels the change process. The main goal of behavioral change is for the person to see the value in making changes and then to embrace the connection between talking about it and applying what was talked about to real life. Therapy frequently involves a mixture of education and awareness, individual counseling, group counseling and family counseling as needed.
Individual Counseling – Patients recommended for individual counseling will have the opportunity to work one on one with an individual counselor based on personal preferences, referral sources, presenting problems and counselor expertise. Most importantly, your input is necessary when considering an individual counselor and we will do our best to focus on your needs, the counselor’s skill set and ultimately the best fit. Pine Lake Behavioral Health’s interdisciplinary team continues to grow with the goal of being able to provide highly professional and qualified services to meet your individual needs. Individual sessions will be scheduled promptly within seven (7) days, but immediate appointments are available upon request.
Pretreatment & Treatment Readiness – Treatment readiness is also known as pretreatment services. Patients in this stage have the opportunity to work with a counselor one on one prior to a group setting to generate motivation for treatment and recovery, address vocational issues, family issues, social issues, with a primary focus on making changes as identified in the assessment process. The fact is not everyone is ready to make necessary changes and our preference is not to waste time in group therapy when there is work that needs to be done prior to a group setting. The goal of this service is to support treatment goals and recommendations, address any barriers to recommendations made or medical advice given, minimize the risk of returning to problematic substance use, and to help the individual and/or family see the value in what it is that is being recommended. This is accomplished through motivational interviewing and just getting to know you. Ultimately, after the pretreatment phase is complete, the person should be at a place where they are ready, willing, and able to successfully complete a primary treatment program then move forward maximizing what treatment services have to offer.
Alcohol & Drug Education Program (ASAM Level 0.5) – Pine Lake Behavioral Health offers alcohol & drug education (ASAM 0.5) classes for both adolescents & adults. Alcohol & drug education services can be provided as a 1:1 service with a licensed counselor which typically requires 3-5 individual sessions or you may take the one day class for 6-8 hours that is offered once monthly. Typically, A/D Education programs are 8-15 hours in duration, however we offer this program in multiple 1 hour increments or the one day 8 hour course since we have found that this is a way to complete the course in the most effective and efficient way.
The cost of the A/D Education course is $270.00 whether done 1:1 or in the one day course. Many people taking this course are from out of state or may have legal charges outside of Nebraska which may require a predefined set of hours of A/D education (depending on the state). Should this be your case, please let us know what state you are satisfying this requirement for and the number of hours required and we will be able to modify the program to fit your individual needs. Individuals requiring additional hours beyond what the traditional course offers will be responsible for any additional charges, typically $70/session based on income.
Outpatient Substance Use Treatment (ASAM Level I.0) – Outpatient substance use treatment is typically a sixteen (16) week program that meets once (1x) weekly for three (3) hours per week. This program is available during the day on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00a-12:00p or in the evening on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6p-9p. This program is designed for individuals who are not chemically dependent but who are demonstrating patterns of chemical abuse. Outpatient Treatment (ASAM I.0) program completion is based on individual progress and need. Aftercare is not required but is available for individuals and families who have completed their primary care program upon request.
There is also an Outpatient (ASAM 1.0) group therapy program offered on Wednesdays from 9a-12p with a specific focus on DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). DBT groups are different from other groups in that group time is not spent processing feelings between group members. The purpose of the group is to learn new skills so you have the tools to build the life you want. Learning practical ways to approach your life is the goal of each session. The skills in DBT are broken down into the following 4 modules:
- Mindfulness
- Distress Tolerance
- Emotional Regulation
- Interpersonal Effectiveness
Intensive Outpatient Substance Use Program (ASAM Level II.I) – A group-focused, nonresidential program for chemically dependent or substance abusing adults who require a more structured treatment environment than provided by the Outpatient Program, but who do not require a 23+ hour inpatient type of setting. Activities in this program focus on aiding patients to recognize their substance use problems and to develop knowledge and skills for making lifestyle changes necessary to maintain a life free from substance use.
We offer both a daytime and an evening program for maximum flexibility. IOP can be Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9a-12p or on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6p-9p. The primary phase of the IOP program meets in a group setting three times per week typically for six (6) weeks, each session being three hours in length (total nine hours per week). This program is facilitated by a licensed alcohol & drug counselor. Individual sessions are required in addition to the scheduled nine (9) hours of group per week because individual attention is so important. The second phase of the IOP program steps down to an Outpatient (ASAM I.0) level of care where the patient will attend once weekly for a period of 12-16 weeks based on individual progress and need. Aftercare is not required but is available for individuals and families who have completed the primary care programs upon request.
